Small-town cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse has had more than her share of experience with the supernatural—but now it’s really hitting close to home. When Sookie sees her brother Jason’s eyes start to change, she knows he’s about to turn into a were-panther for the first time—a transformation he embraces more readily than most shapeshifters she knows. But her concern becomes cold fear when a sniper sets his deadly sights on the local changeling population, and Jason’s new panther brethren suspect he may be the shooter. Now, Sookie has until the next full moon to find out who’s behind the attacks—unless the killer decides to find her first… (from Goodreads)

Dead as a Doornail is book 5 in the Sookie Stackhouse mystery series, also known as the series that inspired True Blood.

The series picks up a few months after the events of the previous book, and I enjoy how the author does that.  I was completely engrossed in the story and while I can see the aspects of mystery in it, I don't consider this a mystery novel.

This was definitely a fantastic read for me.  Sookie is as clever and witty as ever and a found myself laughing along with her at points, and cringing and wanting her to actually find love in the sea of guys that are always floating through her life.

I'm going to keep this short and sweet, because I don't want to spoiler anything about the series, if you enjoy True Blood, or any vampire fiction, pick up this series!!  Its fantastic!!!

5 out of 5 Happy Clouds :)
